Inspiring Education

I found a video on YouTube called Inspiring Education: Naturally! It really made me remember the importance of education. Education is not just what one learns inside of a classroom. Education includes those lessons learned outside of the classroom, as well. This video is filled with quotes by different individuals. They describe the value of education, as well as the magic of discovery. My favorite quote was by Mark Twain. He said, “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” I really believe in these words because I have always felt that we learn a lot more outside of school than we do inside of school. In my opinion, college is more about the lessons and values we learn in life, than the learning we do in the classroom.

    Okay Kara,
I must admit this video was a little to “pretty” for me. (My problem, not yours.) :) Great job…good message hidden amongst the flowers. :)

      Steve,

Honestly I’m not too fond of those pictures either. I really just liked the quotes haha.

I dig the Mark Twain quote. I have learned more from the Discovery and NatGeo channels this weekend than I have my entire so-so college career. Schooling is just something you have to endure to get that piece of paper. It just proves that you are at least capable of fooling people into believing you have learned something.

I agree that education is comprised both of what we learn in the classroom and what we learn in our every-day lives. An excellent example of this is UNT’s Elementary Education program. I was an E.E. major for a couple years before I switched over to Health. We learned about all of the theories in the classroom, but nothing except actually going out into the school systems and teaching a class can really prepare a new teacher for the coming job at hand.

Haha, wow.. Inspiring and powerful quotes but the music and pictures were a little much for me. Very cheesy but still good overall.

I enjoyed the video, flowers and all. I also agree that learning can take place wherever we happen to be at any given moment. I try to take time with my children to explain things and help them understand the reasoning behind things. These little learning sessions can take place in the van on the way to school or at the park while playing.

i like the mark twain quote alot, you can go all through school and just do the bare minimal, learn/memorize to regurgitate for a test and never get an education.

I liked the video but still I think education in the 21st century needs to improve since we need to include more technology into it.
Education, by the way you described, gives me the meaning of values. Those are values learned from the parents, school, society, and the media.
today, elementary school is just a chid care for some people, and that is because children are learning more at home than at school.

Learning can take place where ever we are, which I can agree that we sometimes forget. Good video selection.

I learn new things everywhere I go. I like what you said about education not only being obtained in the classroom but outside the classroom as well. Thats a great example of how education works. Great video selection.
